18 Oct The Human Resources Page
There are a lot of exciting new features available for owners to use to help them with hiring and training employees. First things first, you can access this from the home page by clicking on the “Employee” icon.
Once on the Employees page, you will find three separate areas; Finding Employees, On Boarding Employees, and Training Employees. You will also find a Human Resources Filing Cabinet that has resources you can use for job ads and descriptions, onboarding documents, policy documents, and review forms. Any of these documents can be downloaded, customized, and used for your individual store(s). If you have additional resources that you think would help others, please provide so that I can share with everyone else.
Under the Finding Employees tab, you will find tools that help you with job ads, job descriptions, and screening. Perhaps the biggest resource on this page is access to Optimize Hire. This is a tool that we hope will help owners drastically improve the quality of candidate they are hiring and also save them time in the interviewing process. This tool is a 10-minute assessment given to potential employees that assesses them in 9 different traits including cognitive ability, personality, and motivation. It will score each applicant and give you a customized interview guide to use.
The second tab, On Boarding Employees, will help you onboard your employees easier and more efficiently. On this page, you will find a form to complete for new employees. Once you complete this form, the new employee will receive a form for them to complete their I9, W4, and Direct Deposit form electronically. You can also select an option to send them Employee Guidelines which we have developed. You should review this document prior to sending it. Once they complete the form, they will have the option to download the electronic forms previously mentioned and will also get an email with those forms completed. They can edit the forms using their browser. Once they are done, we have given them instructions to print, sign, and return to their manager.
The last tab, Training Employees, offers a catalog of 5 different courses that you can assign to both new and current employees. There are three main trainings, that cover the background of Monkey Bizness, customer service, and party host best practices. Each training is comprised of a custom video, a re-enforcement video (a TED talk), an article, and a quiz. Each course is designed to take approximately 30-45 minutes. The purpose of these trainings is to standardize some of the messaging that your employees receive as well as eliminate some of the training time on your behalf. Each training can be done from home, a mobile device, or in store. There are two supplemental trainings on Customer Engagement and Party Center Software and Return Visit.
To begin this process, there is a simple form for you to complete that will send out an email to the employee. You can select a due date as well as which trainings you would like the employee to complete. You can lookup whether your employee has completed the assigned training by using the link on the bottom of the page. For now, this will take you to a Google Spreadsheet which you can look up their score. We are going to use this for now, but are hoping to have a better solution down the road.
We hope to continue to provide tools to help you more effectively and efficiently manage your employees. We are always open to suggestions so please feel free to provide ideas as they come up.
